I have been offering consulting services, both technical consulting and business process consulting, for almost two decades. I’m here to help your organization get over the hurdles it faces both today and in the future.
What makes you a good fit for my organization?
I’m a problem solver. I realize that, assuming this is my formal title, the notion of who I am and what I provide can sound both vague and boastful on the surface, but this is not my intent. While I have held titles over the years from systems administrator to technical architect to vice president of a large e-commerce company with 8 figure sales, I consider none of these appointments or accomplishments to hold as much merit as simply solving problems day to day. I’m driven by the issues and pushed to find solutions. It’s a passion, really. I do what I do day to day because I love the thrill of the hunt, and thus the constant desire to fix issues.
I have been involved in dozens of industries over my 20+ year career, and I find I’m adept in most any environment. I’m at my best when I dig into what might be eating into a company’s profits or might be cutting them short of delivering on goals, using their existing staff’s knowledge and experience to gain a clear view and, combined with my resources, put unconventional but effective solutions in place. As a solutions provider, my greatest resource is my ability to look at any situation objectively, without personal investment in the company or its political dynamic or its marketplace, and to make suggestions based on similar situations I’ve seen in other industries in which my tactics provided the desired solution. While sometimes these solutions are glaring in nature, other times a general feeling of inefficiency looms in the air that can be corrected by proper marketing or leveraging existing resources in a different way to pull the company from it’s rut.
I work with the leads in the departments o look at the processes as a whole, and the organization as a whole, and give insights where others may have missed. While my skillset ranges from the technical (Netsuite support and implementation, Linux and windows administration, Magento and WordPress, etc.) to process refinement (statistic analysis, efficiency management, just in time, logistics, etc.) to the interpersonal (coaching in debate tactics, bitcoin investing, etc.), my mission will always be the same: I am here to provide top tier support to solve the problems that plague you and your organizations. My work is backed by a satisfaction guarantee, and iron-clad service level agreement, an industry leading non compete and non disclosure and the attention to detail and care that my customers have raved about for almost 20 years.
While my skill set is varied, there is a list of core competencies in which I am most proficient:
- Integrations of platforms (web to accounting, accounting to ERP, etc.)
- Efficiency Management (typically, I can show ROI within a month or two, and can build a multitude of procedures to fit your business model)
- Merger and Acquisition management – From tech to employee reallocation to legal and administrative, I can help two entities move seamlessly into one.
- Implementation of web apps, websites and software as a service infrastructures
- Hardware, software, wired and wireless network implementation, upgrades, certification and planning
- Social Media, marketing analysis, paid search and organic search consulting
- Paid content creation, online reputation
- Handling customer issues (process, followup, retention) and sales force automation
- Bitcoin for commerce, investing, mining and asset diversity
I am currently contracted to do both short-term/triage style support and provide guidance for about 20 regular clients. I do not advertise. My clients either find me here, from referrals or via content I have created. I have no interest in being everything to everyone, but I do flourish in high stress, tight deadline, multi-faceted problem solving. I do not have an average client, as every situation is unique. I look at each issue presented as a new problem to be solved and a new opportunity to provide excellent service. I am a tinkerer, a nerd, an analyst, a strategist and a competent technician but, in the end, I am a problem solver. I wake up every day looking forward to my next opportunity to solve the problem.
First 30 minutes free
As a matter of policy, and for the fitment of both parties, I do a 30 minutes evaluation session for free with every new client. This time is used to discuss your needs, look at some high level solutions, talk about costs and expectations and to give us both the interface we need to move forward, if we choose. There are times where we are not a good fit and no balance is due. There are times the scope will change as the evaluation goes on. This process helps iron out the possible outcomes, pitfalls and any strategic issues that may come up. It keeps the process in a tidy and uniform format. I do this because it has made every future project a more manageable endeavor, and it is required on my end.
Contracts, NDA, scope of work and other legal
I love the written word. I love how final and exact it is. I build my contracts with years of experience to protect both parties and set clear expectations of things to happen (on both ends) including timelines, milestones, evaluation points, etc. In addition, payment expectation and work limitations and terms are included. A contract is more than just a written guarantee. It’s a statement that both parties will work within these guidelines to ensure success. I do not like to fail, and I rarely accept this as an outcome. My contracts also cover non-disclosure/non-compete (on both sides), intellectual property rights, the basics of a scope of work (both for the whole projected project and for each segment) and other cover-our-butts stuff. If terms of these contracts are not to your liking, we may consider amendments on a project by project basis, but we’ve found that companies see value in our guarantees and our terms and the legal scope is reasonable for all involved.
Payments, Terms, Penalties
My payment structure is entirely transparent, including upfront cost, any ongoing costs expected, variance considerations for hours within scope, and a milestone system that holds both myself and your team members and management accountable for the overall success of the project. I attempt to provide the most accurate return on investment projects up front. A major component of my billing systems and operations as a whole is a clearly defined statement of work, performed before the onset of the project, that defines my role in the project, projected hours, others roles within your organization both by the department and title, a system of checkpoints and milestones to evaluate progress, guarantees as to the success at least checkpoints as promised and a system of training and evaluation that all parties will take ownership of.
In the end, you and your employees know your industry and your company far better than I ever will. You bring an expertise of your products and services that, when conveyed to me in a manner that I can dissect and evaluate, will be critiqued and suggestions made. My estimates have historically been within 10 to 15% of accurate and, many of them have come in under budget with the help and dedication of your staff in implementing the solution. Numbers given during statements of work range because of unseen complications, potential changes in staff or shift in workload, other outside forces and scope creep. There are specific clauses to address scope creep and these become separate statements of work if the administration sides thereof valid uses of my resources. If you put the resources and the time and the energy in the dedication into your goals, I will deliver the solution as it is designed and written.
In the cases of major change or obligations not being met on either side, the process stops immediately and cannot continue until new affirmations are made as to the completion of tasks as they are assigned to both your team and . I know that everybody is busy and they all have daily jobs to do, and will gladly take these issues into consideration as your resources and mine are allocated to the project. While many of these projects are gargantuan in scope, such as a complete ERP replacement including the import of archival data and complicated related records, I find that simply taking the first step with a clear roadmap to the last steps can make even the most daunting and overpowering project and easily consumed and completed effort.
Payments are typically made on a per hour or per project basis, with a variety of payment methods available. We offer discounts on buying blocks of time, and many of our clients take this opportunity to secure our services for the project as a whole or for ongoing hourly support. All payments are prepaid with the exception of clients who have been established for one year or more and have done $50,000 or more of business with. We offer a very small commitment of 2 hour minimum to evaluate our abilities, which will only be charged after our initial review of your review of your process and a top level assessment is done.
If we are awarded the project and there are specific tasks or some project to be completed, a signed statement of work with a estimate of hours will be provided. At this point, a customer may prepay for the entire project or a section within the project or a block of hours toward the completion of the project. The payment that is collected at this point will be applied at the quantity break associated with the hours committed. All projects are scheduled out on a first come first serve basis with the resources available on our end. Before final commitment is made and the project begins, the timetable must be approved by your team lead and resources will be available during this time. Note that due to high demand for many of the specialized tasks that we perform, there may be a wait until your project can begin.
What you are expected to do
I have often said that the greatest resources a company ever had it in the workforce. These men and women have spend the time they have in their position and other positions within the company collecting experience and have insight and process input that shaped the day-to-day and long-term trajectory of your establishment. While processes may keep departments rigidly moving towards goals, individuals may hold key information and shortcuts learned through trial under fire that can hold the keys to true efficiency. I will be working directly with your employees from top level management through the very bottom rungs of your processes, interviewing everyone about their position within a process, getting their feedback as to what they think should happen, looking at what they have to say about problems and possible solutions, and consolidating all of this into a into a plan that works. This cannot happen if there is no buy-in from both management and employees as to the importance of the final solution and how it will positively impact both their positions and the company as a whole.
While many process improvement many workers on easy due to efficiency and automation offsetting jobs, I see a potential for the intelligent and experience workers to utilize their skills in new ways and make the company far more profitable and their lives at work far less repetitive, redundant and boring. When combining the process improvements with on the job training, education, new technology and evaluations of performance and skills, most employees feel their lives their lives at work have been improved. They may work less but output more. They may unlock a potential in themselves that they did not know they had for that they have lost over time. You may have new Superstars rise through the ranks as excellent ideas and powerful accomplishments motivate your teams towards the goals. Without your workforce, your company your company would not exist. I strive to not only improve your bottom line but your workforce efficiency to the benefit of all involved.
When a project is approved for its first steps, a person on your team is listed as the team lead and supervisor for that project. This person will be the checkpoint between the requirement requirement document and my team and will be communicated with directly and approvals granted from as these tasks are assigned and goals are completed. As hours are long, you will note that there are two sets of numbers, real-time work performed by our team down to the minute on both a start and stop points, and billable hours in a separate column.
We bill in 15 minute increments but we build with fairness and transparency in mind. For instance, we may receive a call from one of your members for support, the clock will start, we will do a bit of research and implementation, pass this information off to your employee, have them test or we have firm something, call us with their feedback and multiple rounds of this may occur over a several hour block of time. I do not bill for every minute of this block of time. If my team is actually working on a solution you will be billed for the hours that lead to that solution the hours that lead to the solution down to those 15 minutes but you may find that a seven or eight hour window of interaction between my team and your team may only get billed for 30 minutes or two hours or whatever the fair and reasonable use of resources I validate personally.
While many consultant consultants are notorious clockwatchers who will edge edge out every moment in a given window of time, I prefer to provide a whole solution of time actually spent addressing issues, not waiting time or time by your team performing their maneuvers to complete the goal. Honest evaluations and ability to adhere to quoted hours of work is a cornerstone of our operation and one that our customers will gladly access to attest to many of my customers are exceptionally budget-conscious and ask for a complete stop at not only milestones are typically used but with every hour of work. I am more than willing to comply with these requests and I want your understanding of the process to be complete and without question.
My customers continue to come back to me for specialized and project specific work, time and time again, as well as referring me to others they know who see the value in these services. I am available personally any time for audits of our work or billing practices, free of charge, as requested. With greater understanding on all sides, work becomes more clear and efficiency from both sides of the project will increase. I personally guarantee your satisfaction in our billing practices, our communication, our dedication to your goals and, of course, on goal or better than expected end results. I give ROI Guarantees on every project, and I’ve yet to miss these guaranteed metrics.
Training, Documentation, Ongoing Support
While many projects that we complete will require very little from your team other than initial evaluation and occasional confirmation of process or procedure, other projects will require extensive work with your team. As new technologies and workflows are put into place, training will be provided both to the lead on the project and also the workforce personnel within your organization that are determined by the team lead.
Specific coursework and support documentation will be provided as part of this process. This way, we will instruct you as to how to utilize the new process to maximize results and this information will be available for review by current and future employees. We want this process to be as bug free, easy to implement and easy to follow as possible. Resources on this project will be utilized to ensure repeatability and standards compliance so these evaluations and corrections will not have to be done again as employees leave or as processes change in the future.
